from once-blooming succulents
not thinking twice

relentless:

the fan's motor
a helicopter
a distant barking dog

in the library
nervous coughing breaks the silence
of shuffling feet

three sparrows

unexpectedly
descended,
picking at foliage,
then quickly returned

lethargy

storm clouds today
and warmer temps yet again
prevent productivity

evening has settled in--
television murmurs on

so hot this evening
there's no moon
even crickets are trying to rest
